5 Basic Skincare Mistakes You Didn’t Know You Were Making

5 Basic Skincare Mistakes You Didn’t Know You Were Making

How many skincare routines have you tried, ditched and tried again in your quest for perfect skin?  Too many, I bet? Finding a skincare routine that works for you is always a challenge. Your skin is changing all the time and what worked for you last year or even last night might not be right for your skin today!

Thankfully, in the midst of all the confusion, there are some skincare musts that you will always need to get right.  And if you’re not getting these down to a fine art, you could actually be damaging your skin!

Not Double Cleansing

Using a lovely (perhaps even expensive!) cleanser without initially removing makeup and environmental impurities accumulated throughout the day, negates the effectiveness of your cleanser.

You want your cleanser to clean your actual skin surface and not just remove the sweat and oils that may be present when you wake in the morning or the daily residue that’s still present from your foundation in the evening.

Start incorporating double cleansing into your routine today to get the best results from your cleanser.

We suggest beginning with The Skin Nerd, The Cleanse-Off Mitt and following with Alpha-H Triple Action Cleanser for Normal, Oily and Combination Skin or the Uriage Cleansing Cream for sensitive or dry skin.

Using The Wrong Products For Your Skin Type

Using the wrong products can exacerbate an existing skin condition. If you experience dryness or tightness using too many acid-based products can only make things worse.

If you notice your skin is rough and peeling you may be using products that are over-exfoliating your skin.

If you notice you are experiencing breakouts, this can be another telltale sign that you are using the wrong products.

Finding out what skin type you have and use products to match that. They will leave you with radiant looking skin in no time.

Not Wearing SPF

If there is one thing you need to wear on your skin every day for healthy skin that is SPF. SPF will prevent you from getting sun damage.

By using SPF, you’ll be able to better protect your skin from the powerful UV rays of the sun which will help prevent skin thickening, deep wrinkles, and sagging skin

We recommend using an SPF of 30 and higher on your face every day.

Here are some of our top SPF product picks to help protect your gorgeous skin.

Uriage Roseliane Anti-Redness CC Complete Care Cream SPF30,
REN Clean Skincare Clean Screen Mineral SPF 30

Over Exfoliating

A big mistake a lot of people make when it comes to their skincare routine is thinking they need to scrub and scrub and scrub some more at their face.

While exfoliating is necessary on occasion, overdoing it can lead to irritation, redness, and inflammation.

Instead of scrubbing away at your face we recommend opting for a gentler option and using a mild daily exfoliant like the Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant which is perfect for all skin types.

Picking At Your Blemishes

Picking are blemishes will only make them more aggressive and inflamed.  Not to mention the fact that your fingers usually carry a lot of germs and that definitely won’t help the situation.

Instead, try to leave the blemish alone or treat it with an anti-blemish stick like the Uriage Hyseac Bi-Stick

Or treat yourself to a pamper night and use a correcting face mask to soothe your problematic skin like the Seoulista Beauty Correct & Calm Instant Facial

Stop making these basic mistakes when it comes to your skincare routine and you will have gorgeous glowing skin in no time!
